Work from Turner Prize Artists and Young People:

Sunshine Café, Margate, September to October 2019

Case Study

The Sixteen Trust hosted an exhibition of 16 former Turner Prize artists, alongside the Turner Prize exhibition itself, in Margate.

The show gave the opportunity to local children from Hartsdown Academy to exhibit alongside big names like Tracey Emin and Damien Hirst. It made use of an iconic grade 2* listed building that has been derelict for 15 years.

The exhibition was an enormous success, giving exposure and inspiration to young people from Thanet and beyond. The show attracted over 7,500 visitors over its six-week run.

A generous donation of a piece by Tracey Emin, and other sales from the London and Margate shows, raised £75,000 for our projects.

A great start - help up by getting in touch, donating at the link below.

We're delighted to be able to show the work of students at Hartsdown Academy alongside artists from past Turner Prize shows.

Hartsdown is located in one of the most deprived areas in the UK and we're privileged to be able to give a platform to the talent of their students. We're working with the school through our mentoring program. For more information check around our site, or email
